Understanding God's Love

"Lord, help me to understand your love..."

I know how it feels to have the desire to be loved.
To understand the Lord's love.
But I couldn't...
No matter how hard I tried.
I had to learn to love me, even when no one else loved me.
I had to believe that the Lord loved me.
And most of all understand that there is a love that never fails.
Isn’t that the best of all love?
A love that even when I die,
will still remain?
An Eternal love.
I thought because I was a nice person,
Everyone had to be nice to me.
I thought because I was a good friend,
I deserved to have a good friend.
But sometimes that is not always the case.
And you know what?
It is okay.
Do you really need someone to love you,
To love you?
No, you do not.
But God knew that we needed love.
That is why God said He will always be with us.
Because He is love.
That is why He says we need Him.
There came a point where I told myself I didn’t need love.
I will be okay all on my own.
Believe it or not, I believed that.
I thought it would make me happy.
"I just don't care any more."
I didn’t want to be hurt.
I was tired of it.
But what I noticed was that it was making me bitter.
All of the sudden, I would just get angry.
I actually had to stop and think,
Why am I so angry?
It’s because whether I believed it or not,
I needed love.
And it wasn’t the love the world gives.
It was a love that will never fail.
It was God's love i needed.
A love so deep, that you won’t even understand.
Jesus' love is like a wave.
A wave that suddenly just washes over you,
And never stops.
All you have to do is believe that it is there.
And let me tell you this…
It's the best feeling in the world.
